Job Summary

Artemis ARC and Aptive Resources are seeking an experienced speechwriter with demonstrated experience providing writing, editing, and speech support for senior executives in the federal sector. This role requires a self-starter, proactive problem solver and action-oriented team player. It also requires an individual who is committed to providing superior service, poised under pressure and has a positive and flexible attitude.

 

This is a contingent hire position.

 

This position must be performed onsite at Fort Detrick, Maryland.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Work with members of government staff and internal project team to develop story ideas and approaches.
  • Interview subject matter experts on complex issues and write plain language newsletter articles that are ready for publishing.
  • Write and edit in Associated Press (AP) style.
  • Write and edit for web style with an understanding of operational security requirements.
  • Rapidly research topics and write talking points or speeches for executive leadership to use at industry and academic events, military events, and more.
  • Create slides to accompany speeches.
  • Attend speaking engagements to hear presentation styles.
  • Attend calendar scrubs and syncs to ensure coverage and awareness of command events.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 6 years of experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • Strategic thinker with a forward-looking approach to marketing trends and technologies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically.
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines.
  • Experience supporting complex projects and transformation efforts within the federal government.
  • Comfortability with supporting complex client relationships.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.

DHA MRDC is a global command whose mission is to support medical research in support of the warfighter’s unique requirements. It serves as the core research program of the Department of Defense that was established in 2014 to enhance the related medical research and development programs of the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency.
